RESULTS AS REPORTED 30/07/19

05-08-2019

Taryn Roberts wasn’t born when Thornbury Running Club’s women’s 5k record was set in 1986. After breaking TRC’s 10k record earlier in the month, Taryn became the first Thornbury woman to go under 20 mins over 5k in Saturday’s Thornbury parkrun. Judy Nutting’s old time of 20:02 mins, set 33 years ago, was finally beaten on a course not suited to fast times, suggesting there’s much more to come from Taryn on current form. With some expert pace making from her brother, Dylan, she set a record of 19:58 mins.

Other results at Thornbury parkrun included Henry Orna with a swift 19:38 mins, Jim Godden ran a new personal best of 20:03 mins, Mike Poad made a very promising debut of 21:36 mins, Kevin Arnold set a new personal best of 21:54 mins, Chris Lee 26:21 mins, Mel Lloyd 30:23 mins and Rebecca Twyman 31:53 mins.

Elsewhere, David and Anne Palmer ran Perth parkrun in 27:07 mins and 35:03 mins, respectively. Other TRC parkrun results included Matthew Peyton in Telford 45:50 min. In Chipping Sodbury, Chris Dawes ran 20:56 mins, followed by Richard Phillips in 22:29 mins and Ross Phillips 22:55 mins. At Skatas, Brian Godsman ran 26:37 mins. On the tough Woolacombe Dunes course, Christopher Pritchard and Emma Pritchard ran 34:12 and 34:20 mins, respectively, and Paul Saville ran 22:01 mins at Hanworth.
